As far as I know the film is based on the old Karate Kid movies with the lovable wax on wax off Mr Miyagi. But I'm not sure how close to the storyline the film lies. As far as I can tell Jackie will play a role much like Mr Miyagi whilst Will Smith's son, Jaden Smith will play a role like Daniel-san!
The film despite it's name is actually about Kungfu. "Everything is Kungfu!" is a line stressed by Jackie in the trailer and as a Kung Fu'er I'm pretty chuffed. Excited? I am! Here's the trailer! WOOO JACKIE CHAN!!!

I love almost all those movies listed! Although I am extremely nervous about the new karate kid! I love the old ones and I am a little scared they will ruin it and make it too cheezy. I know the old ones were a little cheezy but that was the 80's and this is now!
ReplyDeleteI guess there's always a risk of ruining the originals, but this movies along the same plot and as far as I know NOT the same storyline, I dont think theres any daniel-san or Mr miyagi it's just a similar storyline. Kid gets bullied, kid learns kungfu, kid kills bullies, kid gets girl. Everybody happy including Andy ^^
